1996 Passat GLX center console removal??

I need to remove the entire center console. I have the front loose, but I can't get the end towards the back seat loose. The Bentley manual says to remove the ashtray and then the two screws under it. This console is equipped with a drink holder in that end, removing the ashtray does not give access to the screws.

Any comments are welcome.

Thanks, Bob

Have a look at the attached image... remove the liitle round plugs and then the screw that are inside (one per side).

I'm guessing, since I have only dealt with the "non drink holder" style. The round plugs are common on A3 model vehicles, so I'm guessing it's the same in this case.

Thanks you are exactly right. Didn't see the plugs until the seats were all the way forward.

Thanks, Bob
