Hi, just a quick question but I'm changing the steering rack and doing a timing belt on a 99 TT. The bently manual states that these bolts must be replaced. Are they stretch bolts? I tried to order them from the vw dealership who took the chassis number before telling me that the only stretch bolts used on the Audi tt are the head bolts and I don't need to replace the bolts listed as "Must replace" in the gently manual. They also went on to state that they never have!

Unsure about this I phoned the Audi dealership where I was told they are not listed as stretch bolts and that they didn't think they needed to be replaced.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Nick

Did they have loctite on them?
A lot of times manufactures want you to replace them instead of applying loctite
