X5 2001 Front Ball Joint Replacement - HELP!!!

Hi,
Has anyone here replaced a ball joint - front lower left on an 4.4i X5? Where can you get the tool to press the ball joint out? Do you have to remove the entire wheel assembly? or after you remove the controll arm, you can just press it out?
