I have a 2004 TT. It threw a code of Cooling system performance. P2181. Has anyone have any idea what this means.

Check operation of thermostat & Engine Coolant Temp Sensor.

Make sure the t-stat does not open too soon.

If you have dual rad fans, make sure they both work

Monitor the coolant temp, hot engine, freeway after 5 miles, if drop down bellow 90 deg/C replace thermostat, if temperature is around 92-96 deg/C replace Engine coolant temp sensor. Good luck.
