My drivers side front marker light and turn signal are burned out. The long thin light below the headlight and Fog light. I have replaced many lights on cars in the past but not on a German made car before. I must not be this sophisticated. Is there a special trick or do I have to go to the dealer to get this done per the manual? Is it as simple as removing the battery?
About the only trick is you turn the bulb holders 1/4 turn clockwise to remove them. They are accessible from inside the engine compartment.
You should be able to reach the left parking light bulb holder without removing the battery/air filter housing. The left turn signal bulb holder is buried a little deeper and will require getting some stuff out of the way. The right side bulbs should both be accessible and is probably the best place to start so you can see what bulbs you'll need to purchase for replacement.
We have extensive bulb replacement instructions and illustrations in section 94 (Exterior Lights) of our 2000-2006 Audi TT paper service manual. The factory information (available on CD-ROM or via web subsc.) does not correctly identify these bulbs, from what I can determine. We got it right in the paper manual though.
