I have an '01 Golf and sometimes run into this same thing. If the alarm won't arm, but the car locks, use the remote to pop the hatch and then close it. It gets mine to arm every time.

It's almost like the control unit needs to be fooled.

If you replaced the batteries in your remote, open it again just to ensure your battery contacts are tight. Bend them slightly if necessary, I've had that problem too, after dropping the fob several times.

hi, i think i have sorted the central locking problem, i found fuse 14 blown in end of dash, replaced the fuse and locking now works again but when you operate the boot lid the fuse blows again but only when the release actuator is operated, disconnect the actuator and it works fine.I' ve got a new actuator to fit this wkend!
