Ok, the latest annoying problem with my 95 Passat GLX VR6
is the drivers side door wont open. It wont open from the outside or the inside. All the doors unlock, the windows work, the door refuses to open. I heard something break and fall to the bottom of the door a couple weeks ago, but the door still opened after i had unlock all the doors with the key. Just had the resistor for the blower control replaced and getting a new pressure switch for the A/C coming tomorrow. A/C is charged and holding freon or refrigerant. I would like to know if anybody knows how to get the door open and what they might think the problem would be. I REFUSE TO TAKE THIS TO THE DEALER!!!
After they charged me $400 for a V belt, oil change and coolant flush and fill i wont give them another penny.
My name is Hadis, I am from Macedonia (South Eastern Europe) and I have a passat b4 1994 station wagon. I had the same problem with the drivers door. I refused to take it to the dealer because they charge a lot and I decided to try it by my self. I fixed it thank *** and this is how I did it. I opened the door from inside and took off the plastic cover of the door mechanism and I sprayed the whole mechanism with WD-40 ( contact spray ) and the door handel from outside and it worked. That happened 14 months ago and it's still working since than. You try it too and maybe you'll fix it. I wish you the best with your Passat.
I have a 96 Passat GLS TDI. I've been having trouble with my driver door as well. Makes sense.. the only door that gets the most "opens/closes".
I've had the door apart a number of times for other issues. The inside and outside door handles operate connect to the door latch independantly of one another. If you're having trouble with both, I would suspect that.
Tearing the door apart is really not all that difficult if you follow the Bentley Manual. I've gotten to where I can do it in a matter of a couple of minutes.
